I am a choreographer based between Wales and Ethiopia. I trained at London Contemporary Dance School and California Institute of the Arts. People, their stories and my own experiences in the worlds I know inspire my work. My biggest concern is equality and the lack thereof. My company is inclusive as a reaction to this, and I work with disabled artists alongside non-disabled dancers to create professional, innovative work both indoors or outdoors. I work with a mature cast of dancers from a variety of cultures and backgrounds who are integral to my work as my process is collaborative and relies on their openness and participation.
In Ethiopia I direct all my energy towards passing my skills on to women and young people. I teach and create work that empowers and promotes change in society guided by my Ethiopian colleagues. In Wales I work with Hijinx Theatre as a movement tutor to train performers with learning disabilities. This feeds directly into my choreographic work which Hijinx has been supporting in a number of ways, most recently the production and tour of ELEVATOR.
My work has been performed at venues and festivals in UK, Spain, Italy, Tenerife, Austria, Germany, Ethiopia and USA.
A collaborator by nature, I have worked with a range of composers, designers, and filmmakers, as well as other dance artists.
